- Help determine which network resources we need to proactively manage on an on-going basis, particularly as design/systems are modified/expanded
- Advise what/how those network resources need to be monitored, help define thresholds
- Recommend capacity optimization/augments
- Seek out trends/emerging capacity concerns, so they can be proactively mitigated
- Give requirements for capacity management tools to our other teams that build/maintain our tools.
- The goal is for capacity to be monitored/analyzed/managed by automation as much as possible.
Requirements
- Route/switch engineering experience on large scale IP networks (especially service provider)
- Strong understanding of modular route/switch platforms, as related to scale and performance (for example ASIC, backplane, TCAM partitioning, CPU)
- Experience optimizing network resources at large scale
- IPAM experience planning/analyzing IP address consumption
