• Help determine which network resources we need to proactively manage on an on-going basis, particularly as design/systems are modified/expanded
• Advise what/how those network resources need to be monitored, help define thresholds
• Recommend capacity optimization/augments
• Seek out trends/emerging capacity concerns, so they can be proactively mitigated
• Give requirements for capacity management tools to our other teams that build/maintain our tools.
• The goal is for capacity to be monitored/analyzed/managed by automation as much as possible.

Requirements

• Route/switch engineering experience on large scale IP networks (especially service provider)
• Strong understanding of modular route/switch platforms, as related to scale and performance (for example ASIC, backplane, TCAM partitioning, CPU)
• Experience optimizing network resources at large scale
• IPAM experience planning/analyzing IP address consumption
